Licensed Concrete Contractor | San Diego County
Coastal concrete built to hold up to salt air, UV, and year-round outdoor use.
San Diego Concrete Co. is a licensed concrete contractor serving Oceanside and the north San Diego County coast. We handle driveways, patios, pool decks, sidewalks, retaining walls, foundations, decorative concrete, repairs, and removal for residential properties throughout Oceanside — from beachfront streets near the pier to established neighborhoods inland toward El Camino Real and the newer communities north of the city.
Oceanside is one of the most salt air-exposed markets we serve. The entire city is close enough to the coast that salt air is a meaningful factor for concrete longevity — not just properties on the water. Unsealed concrete in Oceanside's marine environment breaks down faster than in most other climates. Sealing at job completion and a regular reseal schedule are part of how we approach every concrete project in this city.

Salt air and UV are the primary environmental factors for concrete in Oceanside. Surface spalling and color fading are more common here than in inland markets when concrete isn't properly sealed. We seal every project at completion with a sealer rated for coastal UV and salt air exposure, and we provide a reseal schedule at handoff based on the property's specific exposure level.
Oceanside has a significant stock of older housing — many driveways and walkways in the established neighborhoods around downtown and east Oceanside were poured decades ago. Replacement projects in these areas often reveal inadequate gravel bases and old concrete poured without the base prep standards used today. We rebuild the base at replacement so the next pour doesn't repeat the same lifespan.
Hillside terrain in parts of Oceanside — particularly toward the eastern side of the city — creates demand for retaining walls that manage grade changes and prevent erosion. We build concrete and CMU retaining walls with proper drainage so they hold over the long term rather than cracking and leaning as the soil moves behind them.

COMMON QUESTIONS
Does salt air in Oceanside really affect concrete more than elsewhere?
Yes. Oceanside's proximity to the coast means salt air is present even several miles inland. On unsealed concrete, salt air works into the surface over time and accelerates surface breakdown — particularly on older pours that were never sealed or haven't been resealed in years. We seal every job before completion, and for older concrete already showing wear, resurfacing can restore the surface before replacement is necessary.
My older Oceanside home has a driveway that's been patched multiple times. Should I replace it?
If the slab has shifted vertically between sections, the base has failed and patching won't hold long-term. If the surface is worn and cracked but sections haven't moved relative to each other, resurfacing may be an option. We'll assess the slab during the estimate and give you a straight recommendation on whether repair or replacement is the right call for your specific driveway.
Do you handle retaining wall work in Oceanside's hillside neighborhoods?
Yes. Retaining walls are a regular part of what we do in Oceanside, particularly in areas with significant grade changes. We build poured concrete and CMU retaining walls with proper footings and drainage behind the wall. Drainage is the part that most failed walls are missing — hydrostatic pressure buildup from trapped water is the most common cause of retaining wall failure.
